Fat of the Land Greenock is a sophisticated single-vineyard expression of Barossa Shiraz that highlights the diversity of the regions sub-zones. Sourced from a vineyard northeast of Greenock this wine captures a more savoury mineral-driven side of Shiraz. Deeply coloured and layered it offers complexity restraint and intellectual appeal with structure and balance that speak clearly of place. Part of the Fat of the Land series it stands as a distinct counterpoint to the richer more opulent styles found elsewhere in the Barossa.

Glass-staining crimson with detailed aromas of plush blood plum cassis blueberry and boysenberry fruits. Hints of baking spices some pastille in the distance pan juices violets chocolate bullets dried citrus rind ironstone panforte and earth. Woah Full bodied and powerful with compact powdery layers of tannin a bright minerally cadence and a plush black-fruited finish that draws out nicely. Its a ripper. - Dave Brookes.VINTAGE JOURNAL 94 POINTS As with all the wines in this series under Diam and twenty months in an even split of new and one-year-old French hogsheads. 1200 bottles. This wine exhibits a little more toasty oak than the Ebenezer with notes of blackberries axle grease chocolate liquorice tar soy and sarsaparilla on the nose. The soy and sarsaparilla are especially prominent on the palate. This is powerful and muscular with fine firm tannins and impressive length. Another wine for the long haul. - Angus Hughson.REAL REVIEW 94 POINTS Extremely dense saturated colour stains the glass with purple the aromas are superripe and very oaky mocha and espresso coffee soy sauce with some prune and raisin touches. The concentration and density is so great as to be thickly coating the tongue with flavour and tannin. This is a three-course meal in a bottle Deserves a very hearty meat main course. - Huon Hooke.
