This wine is made as a tribute to Thomas Hardy, our company founder, and one of South Australia’s greatest wine pioneers and visionaries. In keeping with Thomas’s philosophy of blending between regions, this wine combines two of Australia’s best regions for Cabernet Sauvignon, namely Coonawarra and Margaret River. Each region contributes its unique terroir to the final blend.The 2014 vintage showed slightly above average winter rains flushed and filled the soil profile with good moisture levels. A relatively dry spring was balanced by late January rainfall that pushed back what was looking like an early vintage. Good vine canopies & excellent berry size with balanced yields resulted in a particularly strong Coonawarra vintage for Cabernet sauvignon. Tasting Notes
Rich tapestry of aromatics of sweet plum mint mulberry fruits with cloves nutmeg spice adding interest. French oak maturation has resulted in subtle cedar wood notes. Densely flavoured palate full of ripe satsuma plum flesh bright mulberry fruits abound. Firmly structured with abundant fruit flesh together with complexing oak spice sweetness the wine has the hallmarks of classic Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon. The palate finishes with persistent lingering flavour mouth-watering acidity.

The wine was delivered by GSO Courier early this am and was in perfect shipping condition. The bottle temperature was cool to the touch which is amazing given we have been hitting 37C every day for the last week here in our California summer.

I have put the wine into our temperature controlled bottle storage to let them rest for a week (mostly for the 3 bottles of red). I did put one of the Rosés in the frig which we will try tomorrow because we are out to dinner tonight with friends.
Your Rose of Virginia is my favorite rosé, above French and Californians that we have consumed with Tablas Creek “Dianthus” from near Paso Robles being a second.
Now that we have experienced a shipment from you, I am sure we will order a couple of cases more but will wait until weather is cooler for us and the wine.
