The grapes for our Vintage Sparkling Rose were whole bunch pressed wild fermented followed by full malo with tiraging in November 2016. Nine years ageing on lees and a low dosage of less than 4 grams allows the voluptuous flavours of the fruit to shine through. Crafted using 100 Pinot Noir grapes and made in the traditional method the Vintage Sparkling Rose is a perfect expression of the balance between primary fruit flavours and the autolysis characters achieved through extended time on lees.

The 2016 vintage was characterised by very dry conditions and generally warm temperatures. Budburst commenced early in 2016 with strong canopy growth evident by January. The resulting wines have ripe flavours which developed at moderate potential alcohol. Natural acidity for these wines leans towards the softer end providing lovely texture whilst retaining the elegance and finesse that defines Delamere.

Tasting Notes
This wine has an alluring complex aroma of secondary Pinot Noir characters. Potpourri and baked shortbread feature on the nose and palate. The savoury character of the wine is framed beautifully by firm phenolics rich texture and a long seamless palate.

The wine was delivered by GSO Courier early this am and was in perfect shipping condition. The bottle temperature was cool to the touch which is amazing given we have been hitting 37C every day for the last week here in our California summer.

I have put the wine into our temperature controlled bottle storage to let them rest for a week (mostly for the 3 bottles of red). I did put one of the Rosés in the frig which we will try tomorrow because we are out to dinner tonight with friends.
Your Rose of Virginia is my favorite rosé, above French and Californians that we have consumed with Tablas Creek “Dianthus” from near Paso Robles being a second.
Now that we have experienced a shipment from you, I am sure we will order a couple of cases more but will wait until weather is cooler for us and the wine.
