Syna Shiraz is an expression of Barossa intensity and pedigree drawn from estate-grown low-yielding Shiraz vines 1654 clone planted in 1995 in Block 1A at Paulmara Estates by Paul and his late father Harry. Over many years the majority of fruit from these vines has been selected for use in some of Australias most iconic wines such as Penfolds Grange with only a small parcel reserved for Syna. The 2021 vintage continues this tradition capturing the depth structure and quiet power of a single-vineyard Barossa Shiraz.

| Reviews | From the same site as is used for their 2022 version of this wine this is also under cork. 1800 bottles made from what is fast becoming known as one of this centurys finest vintages for the region. Blackmaroon in hue the oak here has integrated beautifully and is certainly more advanced than it is with the subsequent vintage. The nose gives us notes of liquorice chocolate blackberries florals charcuterie and mocha. There is good intensity and the wine offers impressive length. Finely balanced with a line of acidity running the full length the palate sees bold chocolate notes emerging. A terrific Barossa Shiraz for drinking over the next 15 years. Tasting Notes
The wine opens with aromas of dark plum blackberry and black cherry layered with hints of anise spice and subtle oak. The palate is rich yet composed showing concentrated dark fruit fine tannins and a savoury undertone that speaks to site and season. Balanced acidity and measured oak support a long poised finish offering both immediate appeal and the capacity to age gracefully.

The wine was delivered by GSO Courier early this am and was in perfect shipping condition. The bottle temperature was cool to the touch which is amazing given we have been hitting 37C every day for the last week here in our California summer.

I have put the wine into our temperature controlled bottle storage to let them rest for a week (mostly for the 3 bottles of red). I did put one of the Rosés in the frig which we will try tomorrow because we are out to dinner tonight with friends.
Your Rose of Virginia is my favorite rosé, above French and Californians that we have consumed with Tablas Creek “Dianthus” from near Paso Robles being a second.
Now that we have experienced a shipment from you, I am sure we will order a couple of cases more but will wait until weather is cooler for us and the wine.
