Tasting Notes
Aromas of glazed red cherries white and black pepper and cocoa to start slowly revealing hints of rosewater pomegranate and boysenberries. The palate boasts ultra-fine red fruit tannin poised and resonating through textures of plum skin and soft acidity. The finish is firm yet fine awash in cherry blossoms and kirsch.
Winemakers Notes
Picked in the early hours of the morning our Shiraz fruit was destemmed directly to the fermentors as whole berries resulting in slower and more controlled extraction of tannin and greater retention of fruit based aromatics. A cool ferment on skins for 14 days was followed by a gentle pressing straight to barrel. The wine was matured for 10 months in a combination of French Oak barriques and puncheons 30 of which were new and underwent battonage every 5-6 weeks.

The wine was delivered by GSO Courier early this am and was in perfect shipping condition. The bottle temperature was cool to the touch which is amazing given we have been hitting 37C every day for the last week here in our California summer.

I have put the wine into our temperature controlled bottle storage to let them rest for a week (mostly for the 3 bottles of red). I did put one of the Rosés in the frig which we will try tomorrow because we are out to dinner tonight with friends.
Your Rose of Virginia is my favorite rosé, above French and Californians that we have consumed with Tablas Creek “Dianthus” from near Paso Robles being a second.
Now that we have experienced a shipment from you, I am sure we will order a couple of cases more but will wait until weather is cooler for us and the wine.
