Robert Parker Wine Advocate 2023 Grenache 96 ptsRATING 96 ptsDRINK FROM 2025-2038The 2023 Grenache hails from a cool wet season and viticulture was as ever paramount to the success of the eventual wines. The fruit for this wine was harvested from four vineyards in McLaren Vale two in Blewitt Springs one in Kangarilla and one in the Onkaparinga Hills from non-clonal plantings from the 1930s 1960s and 1990s. The wine leads with floral perfume crushed rocks and cool minerals on the nose. It has all the indications of whole-bunch charactersblood orange white pepper licorice etc.however only 7 whole bunches were incorporated into the ferments. On the palate the wine is spicy and lean and it shows a wholly austere savory side of Grenache. This has Nebbiolo leanings in its array of rose petals and wet asphalt in summer rainpetrichor. The tannins are grippy and grainy and make for a chewy drinking experience. Already after 20 minutes in the glass this wine has opened up and softened and as such a large Burgundy glass is absolutely recommended. Its a beautiful wine one that I like more and more the more I taste it.Erin Larkin

Its a wine thats abundant in garden rose notes pink peppercorns saffron sandalwood cold tea and green olive. While this may be from a tough year in which to grow both physically in the vineyards and I am sure mentally watching it roll out the wine is a credit to its viticulture and detailed winemaking and is one of my favorites in the lineup. |

The wine was delivered by GSO Courier early this am and was in perfect shipping condition. The bottle temperature was cool to the touch which is amazing given we have been hitting 37C every day for the last week here in our California summer.

I have put the wine into our temperature controlled bottle storage to let them rest for a week (mostly for the 3 bottles of red). I did put one of the Rosés in the frig which we will try tomorrow because we are out to dinner tonight with friends.
Your Rose of Virginia is my favorite rosé, above French and Californians that we have consumed with Tablas Creek “Dianthus” from near Paso Robles being a second.
Now that we have experienced a shipment from you, I am sure we will order a couple of cases more but will wait until weather is cooler for us and the wine.
