This wine is a vibrant and classic expression of Hunter Valley Semillon defined by bright citrus and refreshing acidity. Aromas of green apple lemon lime and green mango are lifted by subtle floral notes and a hint of botanical complexity reminiscent of gin and tonic with a touch of minerality adding depth. The palate is zesty and precise driven by layers of citrusfrom lemon curd and Tahitian lime to grapefruitbalanced by hints of lemongrass and melon. A fine talc-like minerality and silky texture carry through to a long focused finish. While crisp and lively in its youth the wine shows excellent purity and structure with the potential to develop into greater complexity over a decade or more in the cellar.

Tasting Notes
Reflective of a classic Hunter Valley Semillon vintage Granny Smith Apples lemon and lime zest lemon drops and lime splice ice blocks. There is a distant perfume of white florals Gardenia and White Lilies woven through botanical Gin and Tonic lift giving airy abundance. A hint of wet slate adding aromatic complexity. Silky Lemon curds Tahitian Limes and pith grapefruit complete the citrus medley across the entry lemongrass and honeydew melon building to a mouthwatering profile of talcy minerally acidity almost Frosty Fruits like the palate line is focused and tensile yet plush giving a long and persistent finish. Very pure and refined and while crisp and refreshing as a youngster there is potential for 10 plus years in the cellar.
Winemakers Notes
A blend of 3 vineyards Ernest Hill Crossing Creek and Vergona picked on the 21 22 and 25 January respectively. The Vergona Vineyard has been the backbone of this wine from the beginning with its trademark floral fruit accents giving the wine lift and perfume. Ernest Hill provides the fruit core and heart of this wine while Crossing Creek which is new for us adds a ripe citrus drive.The grapes were hand-picked and Whole Bunch pressed with 48 hours settling before racking to ferment with neutral yeast as simple as that. This year we left our Semillons on ferment lees for 3 months to build some palate texture.
Food Pairings
Hunter River School Prawns with Lime Aioli or Fresh Sand Whiting cut into small pieces flash fried in a hot wok then tossed in a grease proof paper bag with Salt a pinch of smoked Paprika and Lemon Thyme.

The wine was delivered by GSO Courier early this am and was in perfect shipping condition. The bottle temperature was cool to the touch which is amazing given we have been hitting 37C every day for the last week here in our California summer.

I have put the wine into our temperature controlled bottle storage to let them rest for a week (mostly for the 3 bottles of red). I did put one of the Rosés in the frig which we will try tomorrow because we are out to dinner tonight with friends.
Your Rose of Virginia is my favorite rosé, above French and Californians that we have consumed with Tablas Creek “Dianthus” from near Paso Robles being a second.
Now that we have experienced a shipment from you, I am sure we will order a couple of cases more but will wait until weather is cooler for us and the wine.
