The production of a Rose is a rare occurrence at Squitchy Lane with the ideal vintage conditions only arising at infrequent intervals. In 2025 the weather conditions meant that a proportion of our Pinot Noir was reserved for the production of Rose. The fruit was hand-picked and treated very gently in the winery to maintain colour and fruit aromatics.

Reviews The eye is drawn to the pale tea rose hues pretty and delicate. Aromas also beckon in strawberry cherry rose petal aromatics with a light dusting of herbs. Pinot Noir is the basis for this elegant fine featured Rose with winemaking that includes short term ageing in French barrels for around 35 of the fruit after fermentation. Mixes fruit charm with a herbal dusty earthy savouriness that elevates the wine above simply good drinking material. Silky mouthfeel mixes with a juiciness of fruit before finishing on a lightly sweet pastille note. Sunday afternoon drinks are now taken care of. 92 points Jeni Port winepilot.com.au100 pinot noir. A very pale salmon. Restrained with aromas of strawberry pink grapefruit and white flowers. Dry lithe and energetic on the palate finishing subtle and long. Very nicely done. 93 points Philip Rich Halliday Wine Companion
Bottle Volume 750 ML
Tasting Notes
The Rose is a pale salmon pink colour with an intriguing nose of strawberry blood orange cranberry rose petal and red fruits. On the palate the wine is light dry and crunchy with a zest of acid aligned with a textural mouth feel to produce invigorating wine that will complement an array of summer lunch time dishes.
Winemakers Notes
The fruit was hand-harvested and lightly pressed to maintain the colour and fruit aromatics. It underwent a slow fermentation over twenty days to retain freshness and develop texture on the palate. After fermentation a proportion 35 was aged in seasoned oak barrels for three months to help develop texture and savoury character. It was filtered and fined with bentonite prior to bottling.

About Squitchy Lane

Squitchy Lane is based on a mature vineyard planted in 1982 and was part of the renaissance of the Yarra Valley. Planted to classic varieties including Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, Squitchy Lane has developed a reputation for hand crafting premium wines with complexity and elegance that highlight the distinct terroir of vineyard. Squitchy Lane was acquired in 1996 by former Australian Rules Football player Mike Fitzpatrick, who named the vineyard Squitchy Lane, recalling his time studying at Oxford where he begun his foray into wine. Lessons learned on the football field such as discipline, resilience, attention to detail and teamwork have proved to be just as crucial in the production of high-quality wine.

Just a quick note to say I am so glad I found Australia Tasting Room! Since leaving Australia, I have missed some of my favorite wines. I researched other freight companies, but none offered the personal touch service of Australia Tasting Room. You have a great selection from the best vineyards. You added others upon request, and also gave great recommendations when asked. And customer service does not stop with the purchase— The team keep me updated on the shipment every step of the way! I cannot imagine a better service from people who know wine and love to share that knowledge. You have a customer for life! Cheers, J Mason

The wine was delivered by GSO Courier early this am and was in perfect shipping condition. The bottle temperature was cool to the touch which is amazing given we have been hitting 37C every day for the last week here in our California summer.
Well done!
I have put the wine into our temperature controlled bottle storage to let them rest for a week (mostly for the 3 bottles of red). I did put one of the Rosés in the frig which we will try tomorrow because we are out to dinner tonight with friends.
Your Rose of Virginia is my favorite rosé, above French and Californians that we have consumed with Tablas Creek “Dianthus” from near Paso Robles being a second.
Now that we have experienced a shipment from you, I am sure we will order a couple of cases more but will wait until weather is cooler for us and the wine.
Again thanks for an excellent wine and the good service.
Cheers,
Richard A.

The wine arrived last week in good shape - nothing broken or leaked. Your packing design is impressive. Laying it down for a couple of months to settle in. Looking forward to enjoying it. Thanks very much

Australia Tasting Room is a very fine company, with professional direction and management. I appreciate the friendly service, and all your efforts above and beyond to make all deliveries happen. Most impressive were the instant answers and responses any time I had a question. All during a pandemic! Pretty amazing when you think about it.
Highest regards,
