The 2018 North by Adrian Hoffmann is a powerful age-worthy expression of the Dallwitz Block crafted from two exceptional barrelsone drawn from century-old vines and the other from 30-year-old cuttings of the same lineage. Intensely aromatic with dark berries red fruits warm spice and savoury earth notes it delivers a dense seamless palate of remarkable concentration balanced by fine tannins and a long persistent finish. Made with minimal intervention to showcase the vineyard and vintage the wine matured for five years in new French oak before release resulting in profound depth structure and longevity. Bold expressive and unapologetically full-bodied it will evolve gracefully through 2048. Only 696 bottles and 24 magnums were produced. Ideal pairings include slow-roasted lamb chargrilled ribeye beef short ribs venison and aged cheeses such as gouda Manchego and Comte.

Reviews 96 points Erin Larkin Robert Parker Wine AdvocateThe 2018 North by Adrian Hoffmann is sourced from the Dallwitz Block and is the first release of this wine. This is one barrel of our 100-year-old block and one barrel from Erics corner right next door says Adrian Hoffmann. I ask Hoffmann what he is looking to express via the fruit. It has to tell the story of the vintage as well as the vineyard he says. The concentration of this wine is immense it almost defies words. Its inky and viscose in the mouth but long and prolonged through the finish. There are notes of raspberry coulis red gravel pink peppercorns sweet roasted bone marrow bloodblack pudding pan drippings and roses. It is a magnificent wine and the alcohol just works in the context of it. 16.3 alcohol sealed under cork.95 points - The Vintage JournalDeep crimson. Deeply set mulberry blackberry dark cherry touch vintage port like aromas. Massively concentrated and richly flavoured with blackberry apricot aniseed flavours chocolaty textures lovely mid-palate density and fresh linear acidity. Liquorice wood smoke notes at the finish. Not for the faint-hearted or the pinot dilettante but very expressive nonetheless. Drink now2050

Winemakers Notes
This inaugural release of North by Adrian Hoffmann reflects Adrians personal interpretation of North Barossa fruit and the Dallwitz Blocks distinctive voice. Sourced from a combination of 100-year-old vines and 30-year-old cuttings from the same lineage the wine was crafted with minimal intervention to let the site and season speak clearly. After small-batch open ferments cold soak and gentle extraction it matured for five years in new French oak before bottling. Built with exceptional concentration and structure this wine is designed for long-term cellaring.

Just a quick note to say I am so glad I found Australia Tasting Room! Since leaving Australia, I have missed some of my favorite wines. I researched other freight companies, but none offered the personal touch service of Australia Tasting Room. You have a great selection from the best vineyards. You added others upon request, and also gave great recommendations when asked. And customer service does not stop with the purchase— The team keep me updated on the shipment every step of the way! I cannot imagine a better service from people who know wine and love to share that knowledge. You have a customer for life! Cheers, J Mason

The wine was delivered by GSO Courier early this am and was in perfect shipping condition. The bottle temperature was cool to the touch which is amazing given we have been hitting 37C every day for the last week here in our California summer.
Well done!
I have put the wine into our temperature controlled bottle storage to let them rest for a week (mostly for the 3 bottles of red). I did put one of the Rosés in the frig which we will try tomorrow because we are out to dinner tonight with friends.
Your Rose of Virginia is my favorite rosé, above French and Californians that we have consumed with Tablas Creek “Dianthus” from near Paso Robles being a second.
Now that we have experienced a shipment from you, I am sure we will order a couple of cases more but will wait until weather is cooler for us and the wine.
Again thanks for an excellent wine and the good service.
Cheers,
Richard A.

The wine arrived last week in good shape - nothing broken or leaked. Your packing design is impressive. Laying it down for a couple of months to settle in. Looking forward to enjoying it. Thanks very much

Australia Tasting Room is a very fine company, with professional direction and management. I appreciate the friendly service, and all your efforts above and beyond to make all deliveries happen. Most impressive were the instant answers and responses any time I had a question. All during a pandemic! Pretty amazing when you think about it.
Highest regards,
Judy M
P.S. One Contact, One Process, and One Delivery - customers and wine treated equally and expertly, with care. You really can’t beat that! Great job.
