Reviews 92 Points - Marcus Ellis Halliday Wine CompanionFrom two vineyard sites the cabernet 51 from Seaview and the shiraz 49 from Whites Valley matured in French oak 10 new. Cabernet holds the mic here with the shiraz swelling up the expression amplifying and filling in the nooks and crannies. Blackberry plum cassis green peppercorn and laurel the fruit ripe but not boisterous the cabernet playing its part to firm up the shiraz or thats how it feels. Theres neat balance and good drinking here.
Bottle Volume 750 ML
Tasting Notes
Blackberry bramble and blue fruit aromas along with aromatic flowering woody herbs hints of tobacco cloves and cedary oak.Flavours of blackberry cherry and plum earthy warm spices thyme and dark chocolate. The wine has a Shiraz plushness in the mid palate and chewy Cabernet tannins with a lingering finish.
Winemakers Notes
Each parcel of fruit was picked and fermented separately to allow for tailored blending prior to bottling. The ferments were carried out in stainless steel open fermenters with gentle pump overs and plunging for cap management. After 10-14 days on skins wines were basket pressed to stainless steel tanks to complete alcoholic fermentation.Post primary fermentation wines were racked to French oak 10 new oak for maturation and malolactic fermentation.
Food Pairings
Slow braised venison with blackcurrant and thyme

About Willunga100

Here at Willunga 100, we take great pride in our award-winning McLaren Vale wines. Our small and passionate team have created an exciting and vibrant range that truly showcases the magic of our region. Before our first vintage in 2005, we explored the region and came across plots of 50-year-old Grenache vines. At the time, most Grenache was destined for blending. We decided this had to change, so we made these vines our focus and gave them the attention they deserved. McLaren Vale has great geological diversity from sub-region to sub-region, and the soils are among the oldest in the world estimated at over 500 million years. This, along with the mediterranean climate and old vines, combine to produce low yields and stunning, concentrated fruit. Where do we get our name? We take our name from the historic ‘Hundred’ of Willunga that was established in 1839, only three years after the settlement of South Australia. At the time, 100 households were needed to occupy an area in order to qualify for a place on the map, this was called a ‘Hundred’. Today, the Hundred of Willunga is where our Grenache Room tasting room and Blind Spot Vineyard are located.

Just a quick note to say I am so glad I found Australia Tasting Room! Since leaving Australia, I have missed some of my favorite wines. I researched other freight companies, but none offered the personal touch service of Australia Tasting Room. You have a great selection from the best vineyards. You added others upon request, and also gave great recommendations when asked. And customer service does not stop with the purchase— The team keep me updated on the shipment every step of the way! I cannot imagine a better service from people who know wine and love to share that knowledge. You have a customer for life! Cheers, J Mason

The wine was delivered by GSO Courier early this am and was in perfect shipping condition. The bottle temperature was cool to the touch which is amazing given we have been hitting 37C every day for the last week here in our California summer.
Well done!
I have put the wine into our temperature controlled bottle storage to let them rest for a week (mostly for the 3 bottles of red). I did put one of the Rosés in the frig which we will try tomorrow because we are out to dinner tonight with friends.
Your Rose of Virginia is my favorite rosé, above French and Californians that we have consumed with Tablas Creek “Dianthus” from near Paso Robles being a second.
Now that we have experienced a shipment from you, I am sure we will order a couple of cases more but will wait until weather is cooler for us and the wine.
Again thanks for an excellent wine and the good service.
Cheers,
Richard A.

The wine arrived last week in good shape - nothing broken or leaked. Your packing design is impressive. Laying it down for a couple of months to settle in. Looking forward to enjoying it. Thanks very much

Australia Tasting Room is a very fine company, with professional direction and management. I appreciate the friendly service, and all your efforts above and beyond to make all deliveries happen. Most impressive were the instant answers and responses any time I had a question. All during a pandemic! Pretty amazing when you think about it.
Highest regards,
