The Pinot Noir was hand harvested from blocks on the Delamere vineyard aged from 24 and 43 years. In 2024 we included roughly 30 whole bunches in all of the Delamere Pinot ferments. The fruit is fermented in open top fermenters using hand plunging to extract colour and create a harmonious tannin structure. Each parcel commenced fermentation naturally and was completed with a cultured yeast. The wine was pressed off after two to three weeks and filled to Burgundian coopered oak 30 new to mature for nine months before bottling.

A minimum of any 6 bottles is required for each winery you purchase from. We also require bottles to be purchased in increments of 6 as wines are packed and shipped in 6-bottle cases
The 2024 vintage was one of the earliest weve experienced at Delamere. Being a particularly cold site perfect for sparkling but more challenging for still wines this is always a welcome advantage. Temperatures in the spring prior were above average in the north of the state and rainfall was low. This trend continued through summer with rain periods keeping canopy growth rolling along well. Whilst it was a very dry year on average for Tasmania Pipers River continued to receive moderate falls throughout the ripening season.The fruit composition at harvest was surprising given the warmer season with excellent natural acid retention despite the conditions. Solid crop levels across the estate from near perfect conditions during flowering were a welcome bonus after several very low cropping years. The resulting wines have generous bright flavours framed beautifully by zesty natural acidity.

Tasting Notes
This years Estate Pinot presents with a bright brick red colour and brilliant clarity. Typical of the wines of 2024 it has a generous nose of red currant with hints of richer blue fruits found in a warmer season. It is framed by savoury spice delicate oak tones and a subtle hint of earthy forest floor.Supporting this is a classic Delamere palate of beautiful savoury tannins and luscious pomegranate acidity. The combination of fruit weight and acidity suggests a wine that if carefully cellared will evolve into one of our great vintages and be well worth the wait.

The wine was delivered by GSO Courier early this am and was in perfect shipping condition. The bottle temperature was cool to the touch which is amazing given we have been hitting 37C every day for the last week here in our California summer.

I have put the wine into our temperature controlled bottle storage to let them rest for a week (mostly for the 3 bottles of red). I did put one of the Rosés in the frig which we will try tomorrow because we are out to dinner tonight with friends.
Your Rose of Virginia is my favorite rosé, above French and Californians that we have consumed with Tablas Creek “Dianthus” from near Paso Robles being a second.
Now that we have experienced a shipment from you, I am sure we will order a couple of cases more but will wait until weather is cooler for us and the wine.
