From select Shiraz vineyards planted over 50 years ago. The grapes are handpicked destemmed but not crushed and they spend seven days on their skins in open fermenters with hand-plunging twice daily to more gently extract colour flavours and tannins. This is followed by careful basket pressing and malolactic fermentation in a combination of new and seasoned French oak before 18 months maturation in our cellars.

Their worthiness has been proven over many vintages consistently producing the highest quality fruit.

Reviews 96 Points - Andrew Caillard MWDeep crimson. Richly raspberry dark cherry aromas with roasted walnut marzipan notes. Smooth and velvety textured with attractive sweet fruits sinuous melting tannins and underlying aniseed notes. Lovely chocolaty finish. Archetypal Barossa Shiraz with medium- to long-term ageing potential. Drink now203596 Points - Sam Kim Wine OrbitSumptuous and enticing the wine shows blackberry warm spice toasty oak and potpourri aromas on the nose followed by an opulent palate displaying outstanding weight backed by velvety texture and layers of polished tannins. Wonderfully expressed with a prolonged delicious finish. At its best now to 2040.96 Points - Ken Gargett Wine PilotA year and a half in a mix of new and older French barriques has seen a wine of grace and intensity emerge. This is really good. Granted not priced for everyday drinking but even at this price it drinks better than many wines which will cost you double or more. A near opaque black hue this is dense and gorgeous with a plush and generous structure. The nose is dominated by notes of cassis and plums along with deftly handled oak. A powerful wine yet one which is almost cuddly with soft and gentle tannins. It has impressive length and will drink wonderfully well for the next fifteen years. Love it. 2025-204096 Points - Shanteh Wale Wine PilotHandpicked fruit off the estate vineyard in Vine Vale. Basket pressed and matured in a combination of new and seasoned French oak for 18 months. There is a well of mulberry and christmas cherries. This is a wine youll peer into its depths for hours discovering something new over time. Decant if you can or use your large claret glasses. There is some soft licorice and melted choc buds. A hint of black pepper and fresh bay leaf. A palate that makes Marvin Gaye feel rigid. There is a supportive woven fabric of tannins but so well folded into the wine it will slide across your palate. A touch of maple bark and twiggy savouryness. This is a grand wine but incredibly chic at the same time. Drink now or it will cellar very well over 10-15 years further so is its complexity. This calls for lamb shanks and creamy polenta.95 Points - Ray Jordan Wine PilotA hands-off minimalistic approach is taken with this wine using open fermenters and basket pressing. Rich and plush displaying spices and bright red fruits underpinned by dark fruit characters. The tannins are silky fine with a slightly chalk character to complement the rich fruit. It all works really well. Excellent wine of elegance and charm. 2025-204093 Points - Dave Brookes Halliday Wine CompanionShiraz sourced from the subregion of Vine Vale in the lee of the eastern range matured in a combination of French 70 and American 30. Opulent blackberry plum and boysenberry fruit with underlying licorice black olive fruitcake spice dark chocolate cedar panforte cassis tobacco and earth. Traditionally framed black fruits oak-derived wood spice dark chocolate fine powdery tannins and classic Barossa tone on the finish. Drink by 2040
Bottle Volume 750 ML

About Chateau Tanunda

Château Tanunda, Icon of the Barossa, is one of Australia’s most historically significant wineries. Established in 1890, the Château is a cornerstone of the Barossa wine industry and is the site of the Valley’s first winery, as well as its first vineyards planted back in 1843. The Geber family are custodians of a proud winemaking tradition spanning three centuries. They have put their heart, soul and passion into handcrafting some of the Barossa’s most collectable wines since 1998. The majestic bluestone winery and vineyards are a living testament to the colourful history and pioneering spirit of Australia’s most famous wine region.

Just a quick note to say I am so glad I found Australia Tasting Room! Since leaving Australia, I have missed some of my favorite wines. I researched other freight companies, but none offered the personal touch service of Australia Tasting Room. You have a great selection from the best vineyards. You added others upon request, and also gave great recommendations when asked. And customer service does not stop with the purchase— The team keep me updated on the shipment every step of the way! I cannot imagine a better service from people who know wine and love to share that knowledge. You have a customer for life! Cheers, J Mason

The wine was delivered by GSO Courier early this am and was in perfect shipping condition. The bottle temperature was cool to the touch which is amazing given we have been hitting 37C every day for the last week here in our California summer.
Well done!
I have put the wine into our temperature controlled bottle storage to let them rest for a week (mostly for the 3 bottles of red). I did put one of the Rosés in the frig which we will try tomorrow because we are out to dinner tonight with friends.
Your Rose of Virginia is my favorite rosé, above French and Californians that we have consumed with Tablas Creek “Dianthus” from near Paso Robles being a second.
Now that we have experienced a shipment from you, I am sure we will order a couple of cases more but will wait until weather is cooler for us and the wine.
Again thanks for an excellent wine and the good service.
Cheers,
Richard A.

The wine arrived last week in good shape - nothing broken or leaked. Your packing design is impressive. Laying it down for a couple of months to settle in. Looking forward to enjoying it. Thanks very much

Australia Tasting Room is a very fine company, with professional direction and management. I appreciate the friendly service, and all your efforts above and beyond to make all deliveries happen. Most impressive were the instant answers and responses any time I had a question. All during a pandemic! Pretty amazing when you think about it.
Highest regards,
Judy M
P.S. One Contact, One Process, and One Delivery - customers and wine treated equally and expertly, with care. You really can’t beat that! Great job.

Thank you again for your expedited attention to our order and its shipping. The wine has arrived in wonderful condition, and we shared a bottle with one of our friends on Friday who enjoyed it as much as we did.
We will continue to watch for its availability in our area, and we wish you continued success.
