The 2022 Hoffmann DV Grenache Carignan is a fresh expressive red built for warmer days offering vibrant aromas of red berries plum and gentle spice. Bright sweet-edged fruit on the palate gives way to lively acidity and a smooth lightly textured finish creating a harmonious balance between ripeness and lift. Sourced from young Grenache vines on the Farm Block and Carignan from the Dallwitz Block the wine reflects both sites distinct soilsfrom red-brown clays to terra rossa and sandy loams. Co-fermented with minimal intervention and matured for one year in seasoned French oak it was released young to preserve its natural energy and fruit purity. Only 1092 bottles were produced. Medium-bodied refreshing and immediately appealing it will continue to evolve through 2037 and pairs beautifully with charcuterie grilled vegetables roast chicken pizza tapas-style dishes and lighter BBQ fare.

Winemakers Notes
This blend brings together Grenache from the Farm Block and Carignan from the Dallwitz Block each contributing its distinct personalityfrom the Farm Blocks red-brown clays to the Dallwitz Blocks terra rossa and sandy loams. Co-fermented as a small open batch with cold soak and minimal intervention the wine was matured for one year in seasoned French oak and released young to capture its bright fruit and natural vibrancy. Only 1092 bottles were produced showcasing a style guided by the season and the vineyards voice.

The wine was delivered by GSO Courier early this am and was in perfect shipping condition. The bottle temperature was cool to the touch which is amazing given we have been hitting 37C every day for the last week here in our California summer.

I have put the wine into our temperature controlled bottle storage to let them rest for a week (mostly for the 3 bottles of red). I did put one of the Rosés in the frig which we will try tomorrow because we are out to dinner tonight with friends.
Your Rose of Virginia is my favorite rosé, above French and Californians that we have consumed with Tablas Creek “Dianthus” from near Paso Robles being a second.
Now that we have experienced a shipment from you, I am sure we will order a couple of cases more but will wait until weather is cooler for us and the wine.
