A gently sweet palate of dark berry fruit, with 80% dark chocolate tannins and dark berry fruit characters. This is a wine of subtlety and authority, a deeply dark palate of extremely well rounded and integrated tannins pull through a long defined structure. There is precision and direction and no extraneous elements other than the fruit from this special vineyard.

Reviews	Wine Pilot Ken Gargett 94 points The fruit here comes from the teams vineyard with the highest elevation 300 metres above sea level and which they describe as their most windswept but also their most picturesque. In other words hardworking vines. The vineyard was planted in 1998. Maturation is in older oak hogshead. Dark maroon with a crimson rim the nose reveals notes of chocolate black fruits plums cherries smoked meats and very good oak integration. Sleek and slick on the palate we see blackberries and coffee grinds. This is very much at the dark and brooding end spectrum for reds. The wine has good focus and length and is not only very attractive drinking now it should remain so for at least the next 10 to 15 years. Very good value.Q Wine 92 pointsAcross The Creek Vineyard may not sound like the result of an exhausting naming workshop but this Shiraz comes from Bethanys highest vineyard perched at 300 metres and planted in 1998 and it delivers a refined and rather stylish expression. Sleek and silky its a Shiraz that favours finesse over power. Dark plums and black fruits lead the charge with well-integrated oak layering in dark chocolate and savoury woodsy nuances. A fine rub of spice and polished tannins keeps everything in check while the tightly wound mid-palate hints that theres more to come with a little patience. Dusty tannins stain the palate and cling to a persistent finish building a moreishness that has you reaching back for another sip. Better still put this alongside a roast beef dinner and youll quickly appreciate just how comfortably it settles into its stride.

Tasting Notes

Sourced from our highest most windswept vineyard. The vines here work hard but find daily relief from the warmer side of the growing season. The result is a wine that demonstrates purity of fruit a crisp line of dark berries and long structure showing great balance and finesse.

Winemakers Notes

Picked in the early morning the fruit for this wine was crushed to fermenter with a high proportion of whole berries to maximise fruit expression. After a gentle fermentation on skins for 13 days with twice daily pumpovers the ferments were pressed to seasoned French and American oak before resting for its 18 month maturation. Strict barrel selection was then undertaken to prepare this blend.
